Episode 43- Amazon News You Want To Know

October 22, 2021 by Laura

Today is a normal style episode where I talk about products I’m pondering, trying, loving (special shout out to Jamie Ivey’s new kids book “God Made You To Be You”), and of course, consumer news that moms want to hear. However, today is a little different, because the news section is dedicated to Amazon. A lot was mentioned in a past Amazon press release, so I picked out the the relevant tidbits I think you would like to hear.

Make sure to subscribe to the podcast, so you don’t miss an episode. You can hear Episode 43 on your favorite podcast app or simply click the play button below. If you find value in the show, please share with a friend!

I’d also like to call attention if prices I mentioned in this episode were prices I paid at the current time and may not reflect the prices you would pay at the time of reading or listening to this.

Pondering
real estate investing. and no i don’t have a million dollars just sitting around. Alan Corey’s book House F.IR.E lit a fire under my butt.
GlowForge– 3D printer
Whether or not I need to start stocking up on goods. I feel like that’s the problem.
Pet grooming clippers for Chloe Wahl Arco Cordless Pet Clipper Kit

Trying
Blue light glasses for the girls. Not sure if they’ll do anything, but gives me some peace of mind.
Chloe is trying a new calming chew …or will. great success with the Thundershirt but put on too early. Pet Naturals of Vermont Calming chew that is natural and not a sedative. We’ll see!

Loving
Glow in the dark stars and the circle dots I got for my office….which is in my closet. Here’s a picture for you 🙂
Jaimie Ivey’s new kid book that was released. It’s “God Made You To Be You”….Sammy the cactus

News
All about Amazon today.

-Amazon started Black Friday deals early. Go check it out

For the first time ever, Prime members in the U.S. using the Amazon mobile shopping app can send gifts with just an email or mobile phone number—no need to know the recipient’s address
Prime members using the Amazon mobile shopping app in the U.S. can send recipients a gift without knowing their delivery address—a new feature just in time for the holiday season. Simply select the product to gift, select “add gift receipt for easy returns” during check out, then type in a known email address or mobile number of the recipient. That individual can either accept the purchase or exchange for an Amazon gift card, without letting the sender know they did. (gift message will be sent 30 min later…sister said it didn’t automatically go to her app..she had to sign in but still good experience)

A new feature of Amazon is a holiday gift list that you can send to family/friends. You can actually make it public if you want to. You set up what address you want to receive your gifts at. If a gift is purchased through that list, you get an extended 90 days to return that item.

Amazon First Reads– In October…just a little more time left, Prime Members get to choose 2 Kindle books for free. So, you get to choose from the Editor’s picks and discounts on hard copies of select titles if that is your thing. I believe each month you typically get access to one book, but in October 2021 you get 2. Definitely worth checking out if you are already a prime member.

Amazon Explore– travel the world virtually, you book virtual tours and receive a kit ahead of time, to go along with the tour. No peeking! Sounds like a really cool family experience. You’re able to take photos during your live session, speak with locals, and show your interests. pretty crazy. BUT, your host can’t see you…only you can see them.

Beauty Sale– From October 4-25, customers can visit Amazon for deep discounts on a wide selection of products from Indie and Premium Beauty stores, self-care, and grooming must-haves across themes like holiday look, winter skincare, appliances, and more.

Amazon announced expansions to Amazon Halo with three new additions to the Halo family: Halo View, a new health tracker with an AMOLED color display for at-a-glance access to Halo health metrics; Halo Fitness, a new service with hundreds of studio-quality workout classes; and Halo Nutrition, a new experience to help build healthy eating habits. Halo View comes bundled with a full year of Halo membership for just $79.99, and will ship in time for the holidays. Halo membership is $3.99 a month something like that. Halo View: Halo Fitness and Halo Nutrition will come out in Jan 2022

Amazon announced Blink Video Doorbell – the first-ever doorbell from Blink. Starting at $49.99, Blink Video Doorbell can be installed wired or wire-free with the ability to enable two-year battery life, 1080p HD day and night video, two-way audio, chime app alerts, and the ability to connect to and sound your existing in-home chime.

Amazon today announced Amazon Glow, a new interactive device that brings a new magic to video calls and transforms the way kids connect with remote loved ones by participating in activities together. During video calls on Glow, kids see remote loved ones on a dedicated 8” display while reading stories, playing games, and creating art on a 19” touch-sensitive, projected space. At the same time, remote family and friends see the child on a tablet and participate in the same activities using the free Glow app. Glow creates a virtual experience that feels like being together in the same room.
