In Episode 45, I’m doing something a little different. Thanksgiving is next week. Of course, I’m thankful for my family. And, of course, they are the most important thing to me. However, let’s not dismiss the work horses of our household. Those poor pilgrims didn’t have the luxuries we have. 🙂 I’ll be taking off Thanksgiving week, but I’ll be back. In the meantime, go thank each of your appliances. THANK YOU FOR LISTENING!

Baste a turkey with cheesecloth- Here’s a Food Network recipe for you!
Thankful for…..
Washing machine – I can’t even process the thought of me washing clothes by hand in the olden days…..you are powerful and worthy of all praise. thankful for you. love you.
Dryer– If I tried to dry my clothes out on a line, the squirrels and raccoons who like to feast on my house….yes, chew on my house, would have a hay day with those clothes. I am grateful for your consistency and power. You are strong and true. bless you. thankful for you. love you.
Dishwasher– You are the top of the top. I can live with dirty clothes for a while. I could even go to a laundromat, but you my dear friend, are a life saver. You are life. and right now in this current state, you’re making me uneasy. With you’re lack of rinsing properly and leaving residue particles behind, i’m not pleased. You have done better and you can do better. Be better! Because I have respect for you, I’m going to give advanced notice, I’ll be hunting for a black friday deal to replace you. You are loved even in your flawed state, but I need more. In this case, it is you. it’s not me. it’s you. and we must depart ways. Because in no way, am I going to wash dishes by hand. period. still thankful for you. love you.
Robo Vacuum– You were a great purchase. If only I could use you. Some day, my floors won’t be covered in stuff and some day, I’ll have my life together, so that I can flip a switch and set you on your merry way. But until then, you’re looking pretty on your charger. Looking forward to knowing you better in the future. thankful for you. love you.
Vacuum– I appreciate you. I don’t really like you. But I appreciate you and what you stand for. thankful for you. love you.
Oven– Thank you. Even though I don’t like using you, because that means I’m cooking, I admire your consistency. You are the appliance that gives me the least amount of trouble. You might be up there in years, but you are not phased by it. May I look to you and your strength and perseverance as I continue to advance in years of life. thankful for you. love you.
Microwave– what can I say to you? I need you. I depend on you. Without you, I can’t be me. Unfortunately, I think you know that and I don’t like that you know that. Please don’t die on me ever. You’re a big deal to me. I have no desire to elevate my cooking skills. Please don’t make me. thankful for you. love you.
Stove– I wish you were a gas stove instead of a regular electric cooktop that I can never get clean. Why the people who built this house didn’t feel like it was worth making the extra effort to just go a few more feet over and extend the gas line from the fireplace to you, i’ll never know. But, that is not your fault. You too have been consistent. I appreciate you. Your knobs broke off years ago, but that was easily remedied by some universal knobs from ebay. Bless you. thankful for you. love you.
Grill– What can I say to you? Yes, you provide us with yummy grilled food, because let’s face it, everything tastes better on you. We’ve had you over 10 years, and you don’t seem phased one bit. But, this past year, you really showed your capabilities. When that nightmare of a winter storm came and we were without power for 56 hours! Listen to episode 22 for that story. You, my precious weber grill, you literally were our only hope for warm food, water, and coffee. You are the hero of 2021. you are strong and true. thankful for you. love you.
Electric tea kettle – While I may have purchased you to provide me with boiling water for a good cup of tea, you have found a new purpose. One I believe, you were destined to fulfill. Yes, I know it’s 2021, however, in my house, with my water heater that is just stupid and doesn’t provide any good length of hot water, you have saved the day by your old fashioned roots. I may not be putting a kettle over a wood burning fireplace to fill up a bath tub like in the 1800s, but I am plugging you in to add supplemental heat to my bath. thankful for you. love you.
Toaster– You are the best wedding gift I’ve received. I’ve been married for over 14 years and you are standing the test of time. thankful for you. love you.
Refrigerator– LISTEN. I can’t live without you. You are mighty. You are strong. It’s not your fault your makers did a terrible job designing you in order to clean you. You have stuff that has been caked on for years in between your glass. I finally found a youtube video but it will literally take me and the man to do the cleaning job, and when is this ever going to take place? Please don’t die on me. I will clean you some day. Just not today. Thankful for you. love you.
Deep Freezer– you are important….you may be back in the garage, but you are front in my heart. I love having you there to keep my costco frozen purchases safe. You have been with me for 9 years. I know this because I originally bought you so I could store my breast milk, but those days are long and gone, and you have found a new purpose. You are a mighty work horse. Please don’t die. I’ll probably lose like $200 worth of food. thankful for you. love you.
